Today’s walk was 13 miles with few pictures taken. Our goal was to be in Santiago de Compostela for the pilgrim’s mass at noon. So we were dos peregrinas on a mission. We made it!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Today’s walk from Arzua to La Rua was filled with signs from nature, strangers and loved ones no longer with us. The driver dropped us off at yesterday’s endpoint for us to continue our walk. It was a late start for us, since we were still recuperating from the 18 miles done yesterday. Before we started our walk, we stretched (thank you Eleni for reminding us how important it is to do this) when this nun came out and pointed to the west saying, El Camino para ya. We decided to take a picture of her and when we went back to see the picture later on, what stood out was the ray of Light!</image:caption>

<image:caption>My mom, Lola has been with me throughout this journey but today, in true Lola fashion, she made her presence known. During our walk in the middle of no where, we stumbled upon this sign, “Farmacia”. Some might say it is just a coincidence but for us we know this was a ‘God’incidence.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Bueno, this wouldn’t be a Ana and Bibi blog without food pics. Today’s lunch was a chorizo and queso bocadillo and what a bocadillo it was! Of course, Spaniards don’t believe in water, so we washed it down with the next best thing, two canas. (yes, we still haven’t figured out the accento so by now, you shouldn’t have to wonder anymore). We also treated ourselves to the most creamiest ice cream. We happened to discover them yesterday and now it’s a must in our daily food intake.</image:caption>

<image:caption>And then we have the signs of nature. Birds have been singing loudly since Day 1 but today it was a continuous symphony. As we are blogging, they are still performing, this time outside our window. These birds gave us one of the things we enjoy most, MUSIC. We were not just accompanied by birds but at some point during El Camino, we’ve had white small butterflies follow alongside us as well, dancing to the chirping of the birds. Bibi even had a butterfly land on her face, most likely she just wanted to give her a kiss.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Tomorrow is our walk into Santiago de Compostela. We can’t express how excited, blessed, and thankful we are to be doing this walk. On our walk today, we talked about how these last few days we haven not worn any makeup (not that we wear a lot to begin with), no perfume, no hair blow-out (of course that reference is for Bibi), no cute outfits and for one of us no deodorant and the other no bra post walk but we wouldn’t have it any other way. This might all change after tomorrow but for now we will enjoy this simplicity. Thank you for the messages thus far, we love reading them, the prayers sent our way as this has been another ultimate sign for us and know that tomorrow while in the pilgrims mass at Santiago de Compostela, we too will be praying for everyone’s intentions. ✝</image:caption>

<image:caption>Today’s walk was the longest and will be the longest for us. We did 28.9 kilometers (18 miles) in 8 hours. To put this in some type of context, 18 miles is the equivalent to walking from Coral Gables to Miramar. However, today’s hike unlike Coral Gables to Miramar was all about ups and downs. If you notice the pic, our walk today fluctated between going up and coming down and it dawned on us while walking, that this is a perfect symbolism to life. Life is all about ups and downs and how we handle it.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Yesterday, we met a group of riders that are doing El Camino. They started their walk/ride from Madrid on horseback. Today we saw them on our walk to Arzua (yes, we are missing the accento). One of the riders, stopped along the way so that his horse could communicate with a farmer’s horse. What we witnessed was love, community and the power of interaction. We wished we would have recorded what happened when the white horse walked away. The brown horse was elated. He couldn’t contain himself. His owner was afraid he would jump the fence. Needless to say we wanted to free him! But again, we were reminded that alone we are not and everyone or everything has a purpose.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - El Duo Camino - Day Three - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Today’s walk was not like the other two days. Our walk today consisted of a single path, very different from the open mountain views. These paths guiding us to our next stop/town was more about ultimately guiding us to Santiago de Compostela and the path to our life. 18 miles was not easy at all, we spent 8 hours (a day at work) walking up and down mountains on cobblestone pathways, gravel, mud and when we were lucky a paved pathway. This walk for both of us was for the most part silent (believe it or not, Bibi didn’t talk). We didn’t plan that, it just happened. It was a pensive and self-reflective walk. For most of the walk, it reminded us that 1) we were not alone, we were together and feeling the presence of God (in nature, fellow peregrinos, or stops along the way) and 2) when you think you can’t conquer something, just push through or in our case, take one step at a time and let God lead the way.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Some of our views along THE WAY. We knew we would be walking in the countryside of Galicia but what we didn’t know was that it was going to be so mountainous. Luckily the morning was in the 60s but that didn’t last long.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - El Duo Camino - Day One - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>No matter how high the elevation, we always came across a communal peregrino stop. It could have been a bar for a cold beer, cafe for light food, or a Galician family opening their home offering whatever they had cooked. It humbled us when we asked for two bottled waters and how much it would cost and the elderly gentleman, responded with, “Donativo”…a donation. Today’s hike was 14 miles up and down very steep, rocky mountains. The map above indicates we were half way to Portomarin.</image:caption>

<image:caption>We finally made it to Portomarin. It didn’t matter that we had to cross a bridge in 80+ degree whether, we had finally made it to our next destination. As Bibi always says, God has a sense of humor. We never knew getting into Portomarin meant climbing steps the same way when we left Sarria on our way here. At this point, the pain and aches are no joke and this is only day one.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Raquel and her husband (we affectionately refer to them as Mama y Papa) made a delicious homemade, organic pasta dinner. Everything was homemade, including the artisanal bread, ice cream, and chocolate soufflé (that accento came with spellcheck). It was the perfect carb meal to fuel us for our first day of El Camino.</image:caption>

<image:caption>These pictures do not do it justice. Rectoral de Goian (the ‘a’ has an accento and neither one of us can figure it out) is a building that was a rectory built in 1704 and had a second phase built in 1794. The views from our room were amazing. We have video of both the grounds and our room but again, we couldn’t figure out how to upload a video and yes, we tried youtube but no luck. We will try to post on instagram! The only way we can describe this place is if you can think of the English cottage from The Holiday meets Cinderella and the chirping birds. We felt beyond blessed to have stayed here. Raquel and her family were welcoming and extremely hospitable.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Taberna La Concha was a favorite for many different reasons. The bar, our favorite, the street where the bar is located (Calle de la Cava Baja), our favorite, and the drink, Vermut, our favorite. But what sealed the deal, was the name. It wasn’t until we walked out in search of another bar that we realized it’s significance…La Concha!!! This spoke volumes.</image:caption>
